Maleficus follows the story of Natalia, and her brother, Cibran, as a twist of fate entangles them in the conspiracies of the Stormcallers of Adamastor, a heretical cult that serves the god of storms.
This first chapter draft is a pilot I co-wrote and edited with my writing partner, Alister Rynd. It serves to showcase our joint writing style as well as Natalia and Cibran's dynamic. We often collaborate on character dialogue to diversify character voice.
Maleficus' setting is loosely based on Florida, our home state. Chapter 1 takes place in a place called Seroa, which is modelled after Florida's oldest city, St. Augustine. As a whole, the setting is culturally Latin with featuring Portugese, Italian, and Spanish influences and motifs.
