This piece was an experiment replicating traditional ink wash techniques with The Rusty Nib's ink wash brushes. It wasn't quite successful, but it was a fun illustration. The subject is Queen Medb of Connacht of Irish Mythology, specifically the Táin Bó Cúailnge. I wanted to depict the scene where she demands to see Fionnbheannach, the white bull of Connacht, and Donn Cuailnge, the brown bull of Ulster, meet in battle.
